Sew Crazed

Remember this ugly porch swing?

Wonder why I haven't been blogging?

I have been indulging in other creative endeavors.

I made another quilt for a gift (pictures to come) and finished the porch swing. I think it looks mighty fine!

Before you get all excited and think "hey, I want to do this myself like Edith" with a little ole Walmart swing, I just want to mention that in my desire to Do-It-Yourself, the expense and work definitely outweighed what it would have cost to buy a new swing.

However, the sewing was a learning experience success! The next project will be much easier. For this swing, I made the new awning by using the old awning as a pattern. I made the cushion covers by following upholstery you tube videos.

Expenses were as follows:

$100 for cushions... deluxe memory foam-type, waterproof cut to order cushions. I will say about the cushions - definitely worth it. This swing is now more  comfortable than any seat in the house.

$15 Plastic cording for the edging around the cushion.

$8 Weatherproof thread

$60 Fabric on sale. I think I bought 16 yards for that which is way, way too much. I will probably recover my two outdoor chair cushions with the leftovers.

All told: $183

Hey Edith,

My name is Joe Pinzone and I'm casting an international travel show about expats moving abroad. We'd love to film in Italy and wanted to know if you could help us find expats who have moved there within the last 15 months or have been there for 3-4 years, but recently moved into a new home. The show documents their move to a new country and will place the country in fabulous light. The expats on the show would also receive monetary compensation if they are filmed. They must also speak English fluently and can be buyers or renters for their homes. If you'd like more information, please give me a call at 212-231-7716 or skype me at joefromnyc. You can also email me at joepinzone@leopardusa.com. Looking forward to hearing from you.
