The Incredible Shrinking Edith

That's what someone called me last week and I laughed. Yep, that's me. I have been shrinking.

This has definately been quite the journey. I will say that once I got in that weight loss mode around February, after about six weeks of white knuckle-ing, it was pretty easy (at least for me) to continue.

Very briefly, I will say that the three keys for me to get the weight off were:

PATIENCE: realizing that I wouldn't drop ten pounds in a week or even a month. And keeping the weight off will be a life long endeavor. I'm resigned to it and okay with it. I want to be healthy. I want to live a long time.

PERSISTENCE: I know we hear it a million times but it's true - if you blow it one day, start over the next day and forgive yourself. Mostly I tried NOT to blow it in the first place. Never give up!

PLANNING: the biggest for me. I planned how I would feel and react in a hundred different difficult situations that would cause me to eat either because of emotion or temptation. I planned IN ADVANCE how I would deal with it. I also planned meals for the day and counted calories like crazy woman.

I'm finally getting comfortable in my own, new skin. You know, while you are in the the diet process, it comes off pretty quickly and it took time to adjust to the new me - I would catch a glimpse of myself in a window, mirror or picture and just want to stare with incredulity. That's not me. WOW, that's me. How 'bout that?

Believe it or not, I still have 8-10 pounds to get off to achieve a "healthy" BMI. Five more pounds and I will be there. I've been having a hard time getting back into the proper mindset to get those last ten off so I've decided to revel a little bit in what I HAVE achieved so far.

So, indulge me in my "I-love-me" moment and have a look at my fat to almost thin photos:
