An Edithism

That's what Husband calls it when I do something stupid and totally Edith.

For example here's a recent one:

Husband wants me to send him the book Moby Dick by Herman Melville so he can read that book for the tenth time. Me, being a good wife, thought: "hey I should read it too so I can see what all the fuss is about and then we could talk about it".

I went to the library and got it on CD to listen to on my new MP3 player while I'm walking or cleaning the house.

So I load Moby Dick up on my MP3 player last week and take it with me on an hour long walk around our local park. I listen and actually enjoy the book - the chapter numbers were a bit screwed up and I was perplexed about this but otherwise it wasn't that boring and the writing was very rich.

About 45 minutes into my walk I get to the "Call me Ishmael" line (which even I know is the first line of the book) and I realized I was listening to the book on "Shuffle" (meaning the MP3 player shuffles the chapters or songs so you never get bored).

Dumb.

Husband laughed and laughed and said "Moby Dick is definitely not a book you want to listen to on shuffle."
