The Great Remodel and some other stuff

The Remodel is done! and I'm not talking about my house, I'm talking about my almost 43 year old body - it's been needing a lot of maintenance and repairs lately. Everything is breaking, falling off or not operating properly.

I just stumbled home from the eye doctor after getting my eyes checked yesterday (good news - I can still get away with just a pair of cheaters), had to have my foot fixed, problems with an arthritic shoulder, a root canal in December.

I sound like a Grandma Christmas Letter but it has been weighing heavy on me (literally and figuratively). I am embarrassed to say I've put on 15 pounds since Husband deployed in May (which just adds to the aches and pains).

Moving on.

For those of you who know my dad, he is moving this week into a home care facility near my sister. He was in an institutional type of place so this seems like it would be a better fit for him. He will practically be around the corner from my sister's house which means lots of family visits and outings.

Our moving and house sale has been a roller coaster. I've been sprucing up the house - painting, packing up junk etc. because we need to list the house as soon as possible and get it on the market 8-9 months before we leave. Husband says (and I think I mentioned it here) that we will be moving to either Belgium or South Korea at the beginning of 2009. This is all unofficial of course.

Because overseas military housing will only allow one vehicle, one dog and one cat, I was poised to give away Maggie, Marble and sell my 1972 Karmann Ghia (all three very painful losses). He told me a few days ago that everything is up in the air again arrggggggh!

I don't do well with change.

We'll know more in May.
